A Southern Styled Shoot

This past July, on my birthday actually :), I was honored to be a part of an amazing styled shoot with some of my favorite wedding vendors.

We worked diligently for months perfecting the design and perfecting the smallest details. When the day finally came, we took on the hot, humid, mosquito ridden Louisiana swamp and brought to life a shoot full of color, beauty, light and of course, Southern charm.

I want to give a huge thank you to Ruffled Blog for publishing our sweet little shoot. All of the vendors that worked on this shoot were truly amazing and their skills, I believe, shine through perfectly!

Catherine Guidry did an amazing job directing the models and the flow of the shoot. Her use of lighting and angles is impeccable and of course, she’s super fun to work with!

Mia Sandberg of Root Floral Design put together some breathtaking floral designs! The different textures and colors used were truly gorgeous! Love love love her! 🙂

Rita Goodrich of Inkling Design Studio created the perfect invitations, menus,  place cards and labels! They really tied everything together.

Brothers on the Blvd. and 7 Chicks were a blessing to us by allowing us to use some of their pieces to dress our beautiful models in. And of course, Joli Petale provided some of her amazing jewelry to provide the perfect touch to our lovely “bride”. Sarah Buteaux worked her magic with hair and makeup creating a look that was effortless but perfectly Southern.

Of course, Indulge and Jefferson Street Pub created delicious treats that represented the amazing food of Southern Louisiana perfectly!

Finally a big hug and lots of thanks to Maison Madeleine for the use of their facility and to our gorgeous and super fun models, Jarred Smith and Courtney Tribe, for participating in and making this shoot so fun!

See below for a few of my favorite shots! I hope you enjoy this shoot as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you! 🙂

Rustic Styled Shoot with Sarah Beth

When Sarah of Sarah Beth Photography approached me with her idea for a styled shoot, I was more than excited to be a part of it. Since the shoot was scheduled for the following weekend (less than a week to plan!! YIKES) we immediately got started. It was incredibly refreshing how quickly local vendors readily accepted our offer to be a part of the shoot and how helpful everyone was. With everyone on board, it was so easy to bring Sarah’s vision to life!

Becca's Wedding

Becca and Andrew were quite possibly the most laid back couple I’ve ever met. During the entire planning process, Becca was calm, relaxed and just happy to be marrying the love of her life. I’d like to think that her calmness came in part because of my assistance ;-), but after working with her for several months, I know that’s just part of her awesome personality.

Becca and Andrew were married at Wolff Ballroom in Washington, Louisiana. The reception was held at the same location immediately following the ceremony. Becca and Andrew’s laid back, comfortable style was displayed throughout the ballroom with mason jars filled with colorful wildflowers, candles, burlap and antique doors. The couple danced the night away and ended the evening with a confetti exit.

It was truly a blessing getting to work with Becca and Andrew and their families. They each have such fun families and friends, that the night was filled with lots of laughter and good cheer.

Becca and Andrew– thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your big day. You guys were such an awesome couple to work with and I’m so glad that your wedding ended my spring/summer wedding season. I wish you many blessings, lots of laughs and of course, a life time of happiness! 🙂

Emily's Wedding

When I first met Emily, I knew this girl was head over heels excited to get married. As she talked about her ideas and her fiancé, her face grew animated and she literally glowed!

As we worked together to bring to life her amazing ideas (she is super creative y’all), I got to know her more and came to think of her as a close friend. The planning process is always so much more fun when you feel like you are planning something for a friend. I knew from the very beginning that the task was going to be big, but that I would do everything in my power to give her the wedding day that she had always dreamed about. Two days of setting up in the Louisiana heat and lots of prayers for no rain and her day was gorgeous!

Emily’s wedding was at her aunt’s home in Lafayette, Louisiana. The backyard served as the ceremony and reception area. The yard itself is gorgeous, but add to it some unique touches, a few extra flowers and a beautiful bride and well, its downright breathtaking!

Emily’s guests were greeted with cups of sweet tea, Milo’s Sweet Tea that is ;-), before being seated in front of an amazing arbor built by the groom himself and adorned with flowers by Flowers by Rodney. The couple chose to write their own vows (how sweet!) and exchanged them in front of their closest friends and family members. The ceremony and reception were filled with so many little touches (check out her gallery here or Courtney Nicole Photography’s website here) that represented them perfectly. To say this was a little backyard wedding is quite the understatement!

The couple ended the night with a sparkler exit and a fancy red convertible which happened to be the same car that her parents left in on their wedding day.

Working with Emily was a true blessing and I am so thankful, not only for the chance to work with someone so kind, fun and genuine, but for the friendship that has evolved from the experience.

Emily, I pray that life brings you and Taylor the many blessings that you deserve and that you both have a marriage filled with joy, love and tons of laughter! 🙂 It was such a pleasure working with you!

Amelia's Wedding

This was a special wedding for me for reasons that I’m sure the bride nor her mom even remember. A few years ago my godmother was diagnosed with lung cancer and it spread very rapidly. I had a hard time dealing with the situation and therefore, didn’t attend many doctors appointments. However, there was one appointment that I went to and Mimi’s mom, Mrs. Susannah just so happened to be the nurse that would work with my lovely nanny that day. Mrs. Susannah was so sweet and patient with her that I knew one day I wanted to repay her for her kindness during those last weeks.

When I found out Mimi was engaged, I just knew that this was my opportunity to say thank you and really, what a wonderful family to work with. Mimi and Mrs. Susannah are two of the most timeless women you will ever meet. They exude grace, kindness and warmth.

Mimi was married on June 8, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana. Her lovely summer afternoon nuptials were followed by an elegant reception at The Madison in Broussard, La. Her reception included the amazing Louisiana Red band, a delicious candy bar and an amazing chocolate fountain. From the very beginning, Mimi knew she wanted this to be a classy affair and she didn’t miss a beat! Her reception fit her personally perfectly– classy and elegant.

Below are a few pictures from her big day–please excuse the quality as these were taken with an Iphone! Her gallery displays the amazing work of her awesome photographer, Bray Danielle.

Mrs. Susannah and Mimi– Thank you for allowing me to be a part of such an important day. I hope you know how grateful I am for everything. Mimi, you were such a gorgeous bride and I wish you a lifetime of happiness and blessings. Mrs. Susannah, thank you so much for the kindness you showed my family during such a difficult time, I only hope you know how thankful I am for that.

          Cheers ladies! 🙂

Hannah's Wedding

down

From our very first meeting, I knew that Hannah wasn’t going to be just any client.

She showed up looking tired, flustered and a little under-whelmed about planning her wedding. Who could blame her though, she had a new born baby girl to tend to and no one to assist in the planning process. She grabbed a cup of coffee (necessary for new mommies!), sat down and said “I need you to do everything.” I laughed and said, “Okay, let’s get started.” And we were off! We planned her May wedding at The Victorian Plantation in just a few short months and developed a wonderful friendship in the process.

I have people ask me all the time what the hardest part of my job is. My answer to that question is when bride’s don’t trust my opinion. Not trusting in your planner will make the process more difficult for the both of you (more on this in another post). This was not the case with Hannah. With just 6 months from our initial meeting to her wedding day and nothing done, I had my work cut out for me, but Hannah trusted me. She told me her dreams (big and small) for her big day and we worked together to make it happen.

Hannah married the man of her dreams on May 4th in a small outdoor ceremony at The Victorian Plantation in Broussard, Louisiana. Surrounded by her friends and family she said her “I do’s” and danced the night away listening to DJ Aaron Lane and cajun band, The Pine Leaf Boys.

Hannah and Ross are two of the sweetest, most generous people that I’ve met. They made sure to include everyone during their reception. They did a generational dance for all of the couples and instead of a bouquet / garter toss, they tossed a football into the crowd that had a $50 Visa gift card on it! How awesome is that?!

It’s been such a pleasure working with Hannah and I feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to not just work with her, but get to know her. Below are a couple of pictures from her big day, but be sure to check out her gallery for more!
