Becca's Proposal Story

When I met Becca and Andrew for the first time, I was overcome with the amount of sweetness and love between these two people. As I ‘ve been working with Becca, I’ve come to know a little bit more about her and her wonderful fiance, Andrew, and I have to say that I’m just so excited to share the proposal story of such a wonderful couple with so much love for each other. Check it out!

After dating for four years and having many significant conversations about our future, I knew that Andrew and I would get engaged sometime in the fall. However, since we are a long distance couple, him being at Baylor and me at Mississippi College, we had to schedule weekends to see each other. We were available only four weekends that fall semester.

The first weekend we were able to see each other was September 28. I had secretly hoped that Andrew would propose then, but he really wasn’t giving anything away and I was getting a little frustrated with his nonchalant attitude towards our plans.

We had decided to go home to Lafayette for a long weekend together, but a couple weeks before Andrew called to tell me that he wouldn’t be able to get home until almost midnight on Friday, which was a day later than we had planned. He was going to Cuba the next week for a class and said he needed to stay in Waco to pick up his visa and that there was no way around it. After some disappointment, I let it go and figured it was for the best because Lauren, my best friend and his accomplice, was taking me to get a manicure and pedicure, which made me curious but I didn’t let it get my hopes up just yet.

On Friday after we got our nails done, Lauren and I went to eat dinner with her parents. Another tip off was that dinner was ready and waiting for us when we got to her house, which never happens. After eating, my younger brother, Jared, called asking me to pick him up at Thomas Park because he was playing tennis but the friend he had gone with had to leave unexpectedly. Lauren said it was fine, so we hopped in her car and headed to the park that had become a very special place for Andrew and I.

Upon arriving at the park I see Mrs. Helen, Andrew’s mom run across the parking lot, jump in a car, and drive away. Then I noticed that some of my friends’ cars were there and realized that something had to be happening.

But still thinking I’m picking up Jared, I call him to tell him that I’m there. He gets flustered and hangs up on me so Lauren tells me to get out of the car so we  can go look for him. I then knew exactly what is happening and I’ve never had more butterflies in my stomach.

Lauren and I started walking down the side walk when I see my handsome boyfriend on top of the hill under a white tent with Christmas lights and pictures hanging from ribbon. It was sweet, sentimental, and such a surprise but I was so thrown off that all I could focus on was that Andrew had lied to me–a comment I made numerous times and was unfortunately caught on tape. When I finally reached him under the tent he said a heartfelt speech, got down on one knee, pulled out the perfect ring, and asked me to marry him.

I instantly said yes and then we prayed, just as we had done when we started dating. And then fireworks started going off. Yes, fireworks. He had enlisted two of our good friends to hide behind another hill so they could shoot off fireworks when he signaled them. Andrew is absolutely ridiculous and over the top but also incredibly romantic.

In addition to having a handful of friends there videoing and taking pictures in order to capture every moment, he had also arranged a party at his house.  All of our family was there and even some good friends from out of town. Andrew even had all of my favorite foods there.

Andrew surprised me more than I could ever have imagined. He included very personal details of our lives and made it a night I’ll never forget and that I’ll be forever thankful for because it means that I get to become his wife.

I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work with such a wonderful couple and I can’t wait until their June wedding! Many blessings to you both! 🙂

Happy Halloween!

With Halloween right around the corner and so many people incorporating themes into their wedding day, I thought it would be the perfect time to show you how to incorporate a Halloween theme into your big day subtly and with unique sophisticated touches!

  • Candy isn’t the only treat at Halloween, try having a signature drink that ties in the holiday.

  • A great way to make your guests tables interesting is to use pumpkins, farm tables and really interesting runners! Try black and white stripes or chevron stripes!

  • Try carving out the center of a pumpkin and filling with flowers for a unique centerpiece or carve holes in your pumpkins and add lights (this is sure to give your guests something to rave about!)

  • Use small pumpkin stems for your escort cards or to hold menus! Such a fun idea and the small pumpkins can double as favors for your guests! You can also paint your table numbers on the pumpkins!

  • You can’t have a Halloween theme without tons of candy! Have a special dessert bar with a variety of candy for your guests OR give out cute candy favors!

You can also do a candy apple bar!

  • Don’t want to use orange and black or want a more subtle approach to a Halloween theme? Try white pumpkins! They are super modern and provide texture and interest without screaming Halloween!

  • The invitation sets the mood before your guests even get to the ceremony. Make sure your invitations follow your theme and are as unique as your big day!

These are just a few of the hundreds of ideas and ways you can subtly incorporate Halloween into your wedding! Have a Happy Halloween folks!!!
